an update, finally!

WELL! it's about time, right?! my interent access has been "less than usual" to say the least. This is the first time i have been able to be online for more than 5 minutes in the last four days or so. It's ridiculous. Well, we arrived in Paestum the other day and I was able to get online there, but needed to talk to my mommy.. tee hee.. We were in Paestum for about three days. we were supposed to do some digging, but it was more a "political" trip for our professor. she is supposed to be leading the dig but hasnt been back in about 4 years so she wanted to make sure that no one hated her.. legitimate.. we hung out at the beach with Dora (her daughter) and saw some behind the scenes stuff at the museum.. nothing too intense.. then we loaded up for our long car ride to Metaponto, which was eventful. we are driving a manual mercedes station wagon and my professor isnt very good at it, plus it was dark. made for a rather interesting ride, anyway. we arrived and moved into our hotel, which is nice. there ar two rooms, and a kitchen, and a bathroom, so it suits us. the thing that is not so fun is the fact that i was confused about this trip, let me tell you. turns out that she didn't bring a babysitter with her and now we (the three of us girls) are stuck douing it. we have a system worked out where two of us go to the museum with her in the morning (her = prof.) and one stays at the hotel with dora and then we rotate. it's fine, but it isn't. i am not using my AMS money to babysit. the work we are doing with her catalogue is really cool, but you only get to to do that for a limited time. which is why i am going to the CODA conference in barcelona! i figured i might as well do something amazing while i'm here and she (prof.) doesnt need me to be here, so why not?? anyway, i am currently figuring all that travel tuff out now and im really excited!! i miss you all lots and will update as soon as i can!! lots and lots of love!
